It’s something I’m trying to be more intentional with—curating moments of joy, not just for the big milestones, but for the beauty of the everyday. Life is so often about the in-between, and I believe in romanticizing it, in creating our own magic.
So, when I was invited to experience the media tasting of the birthday celebration menu at Flame Sushi, I decided to make an occasion of it.
My own birthday is still a few months away (a forever February baby ♓️), but this was the perfect excuse to dress up, gather my favourite people / The Glam Friends (@Glamfriends.to) , and step into that celebratory energy.
We were there to try the full 5-course + 1 drink tasting menu, and it was a true journey through culinary artistry. This isn't just a small tasting; it's a complete, multi-course feast. Each dish was beautifully plated, a feast for the eyes before even reaching the palate—from delicate appetizers to vibrant sushi rolls and hearty mains.
The 5-Course Tasting menu is ONLY $50 (originally, $100)
It’s a complete immersion. The space is intentionally dark and moody, a chic cocoon wrapped in this stunning black and gold wallpaper that catches the light.
It’s buzzy, but not chaotic. It’s that perfect, modern pulse.
We slid into one of the plush, spacious booths—they are incredibly comfortable and private. Above you, is a mirror, reflecting the entire scene: the clinking cocktail glasses, the laughter, and the dramatic glow of the "Happy Birthday" signs. It all plays beautifully off the sleek, black marble tables.
IGNITE (Cocktails): We started with cocktails, of course. The Yazu Sakura Martini and Velvet Matcha were stunning, but my personal favorite was the Peach Whisky Crush—so balanced, chic, and absolutely delicious.
FLICKR (Soup): A comforting Miso Soup to warm up the palate.
GLOW (Appetizer): We chose the melt-in-your-mouth Beef Tataki and the delicate Hamachi Tataki. Both were phenomenal.
KINDLE (Sushi/Sashimi/Duck): This course was a highlight. We had the rich Yuzu Confit Duck Leg, a perfectly crisp Soft Shell Crab Roll, and a fresh Sashimi Salad.
BLAZE (Main): The mains were absolute showstoppers. We tried the Sous Vide Smoke Duck Breast and the Hokkaido Scallop Eel Oshi, but I have to say, the Dan Dan Chashu Udon was what I ABSOLUTELY LOVED. It was pure umami, so rich and flavorful—I’m still dreaming about it.
EMBER (Dessert): And yes, after all that, a lovely House Dessert for each of us to finish the meal.
To elevate our girls' night even further, we opted for a bottle of crisp Pelee Secco Prosecco ($60). Their extensive beverage list has something for every taste, but sometimes, when you’re celebrating big moments (or just because!), you simply have to go sparkling. It added that extra touch of effervescent luxury to an already perfect evening.
This is where Flame Sushi understands the experience on a profound level. They bring out the flawless "Chocolate Egg Dome Smash" in addition to your Ember dessert. It’s pure theatre. The staff gathers, they light a candle, and they sing 'Happy Birthday' as you prepare to make a wish before smashing into the chocolate.
Technically, it was my third-quarter birthday. I jokingly said to the girls, that we should make quarter birthdays a thing now ;). I once celebrated my half birthday in July...
They even give you a little Polaroid-style keepsake to take home. You know I live for these thoughtful, tangible details that turn a great meal into a cherished memory.
As a media guest, I got the full preview, but I have to share the official Birthday Celebratory Offer. It’s honestly such a great deal!
For the Birthday Guest: A complimentary 3-course tasting (when you come with a party of 4+).
For the Friends: All other guests get the lavish 5-course + 1 Drink tasting (the one we had!) for just $50—which is 50% off the regular $100 price.
Birthday Chocolate Smash Egg with candles, singing, fun birthday props
The Pro-Tip: The birthday guest can (and should) absolutely upgrade their free 3-course to the full 5-course for only $12.
Trust me, you'll want the complete experience.
It was the perfect reminder: don't wait for a reason to celebrate. Find one, and do it in style. Life is now—and it's meant to be savored.
