Tasting the New Baro Rooftop Menu: King West’s Latin Culinary Escape 🥥🍸🌴

Smiling woman in a purple dress holds a cocktail at a long table with a massive steak and seafood shared board.

If you have followed my lifestyle and dining guides for a while, you know that I am no stranger to the King West culinary scene.

I have been dining at Baro Toronto for years, consistently drawn back by their elevated, Latin-infused culinary experience. However, until this week, I had yet to experience their coveted rooftop oasis.

As a seasoned creative in the luxury lifestyle / hospitality space, I look for more than just good food. I look for a comprehensive sensory experience. Baro’s rooftop patio delivers exactly that. It effortlessly bridges the rich history of traditional Latin American flavors with the vibrant, contemporary pulse of downtown Toronto.

The Vibe & The Bevvies

Stepping onto the Baro rooftop feels like an immediate departure from the concrete jungle. The space is lush, energetic, and perfectly designed for golden-hour dining.

We started the evening exploring their newly curated summer cocktail list. The mixology here is intentional, leaning heavily into fresh, citrus-forward profiles that complement the menu perfectly.

Whether you prefer a smoky mezcal or a crisp, botanical gin base, the beverage program is designed to keep you lingering long after the sun goes down.

Fiesta Hour & Weekend Brunch

While dinner under the stars is unmatched, Baro's "Fiesta Hour" is arguably the best-kept secret on King West for the after-work crowd. Running Monday through Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the menu features $10 snacks, $6 wine and beer, and $12 cocktails (or mocktails, if you're leaning into a mindful summer). It is the perfect, aesthetic excuse to log off early.

Planning for the weekend instead? Their weekend brunch (Saturday & Sundays | 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM) curated by Chef Brent Maxwell featuring bottomless mimosas delivers an undefeated daytime vibe.

What We Tried: The Summer Patio Menu Review

The culinary team at Baro has built a menu meant for sharing, conversation, and indulgence. Here is a breakdown of our absolute favorites from the patio preview:

  • The Big Ass Board: This is the undeniable star of the show. A massive 32oz bone-in ribeye, featuring 45-day aged Canadian prime beef. It is served with a vibrant salsa verde, peanut macha, and fire-roasted salsa. The cook on the steak was flawless, and the presentation makes it the ultimate centerpiece for a group dinner.

  • The Street Corn: A masterclass in balancing heat, fat, and acid. The grilled corn is generously coated in chili butter, chulpes, tajin, cotija cheese, and a five-chili crema, finished with fresh lime. I could have eaten three of these.

  • The Fresh Starts: We couldn't resist the Yellowfin Tuna Aguachile (compressed watermelon, edamame, and huacatay) and the classic Baro CGS (their signature 3-chip mezcla, guacamole, and salsa) to kick off the meal.

More Standouts from the New Menu

Beyond our main favorites, the new summer menu is packed with vibrant, produce-forward dishes and rich, smoky proteins. Some other incredible additions you need to try include:

  • Bay Scallop Ceviche: Featuring Argentinian bay scallops, fire-roasted pineapple, and a bright citrus coconut leche.

  • Burrata & Charred Asparagus: A beautifully textured dish with a habanero and lime vinaigrette, finished with an addictive garlic chili crisp over toasted sourdough.

  • Pulpo A La Brasa Con Cerdo: For the adventurous palate, this grilled octopus escabeche and pork belly dish features an ancho salsa and aji amarillo tapioca chips.

  • Pollo A La Brasa: Chicken drumsticks elevated with a sweet and smoky guava barbeque sauce.

  • The Sweet Finish: We ended the night with the Chef's selection dessert, which was a gorgeous plate of warm churros served with a rich dulce de leche dip.
